Watching the 2014 Winter Olympics with Children

My family has been really enjoying some of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.  This year the olympics takes place from February 7th through the 23rd.  We DVR'd the opening of the olympics and it took 3 days in intervals to watch it, but my son loved it!  Some believe that watching the olympics is a way to show them what happens when people put passion and talent  and hard work to come together.  It is fun to create flags of the participating countries and post them around the house, then keep track of which ones get gold medals.  Watching the winter olympics this year has been a fun way to learn more about Sochi, Russia.  My son and I have talked and dreamed about what event we would compete in if we were in the olympics.  He even drew a picture of himself skiing in the winter olympics!
