As an educator, when I learned about Walter Palmer's senseless killing of Cecil the Zimbabwean Lion, several questions arise about his education.
Walter Palmer went through the U.S. education system and is a dentist. I am extremely ashamed!
Did Walter Palmer ever learn about environmental education in school. Did he ever have character education, does he understand what it means to respect other cultures, countries, living things? Would Walter Palmer have been allowed to visit Yosemite National Park and lure animals outside of the park to kill them?
Palmer was forced to close his Minneapolis dental practice because of public and international outrage.
Even after being confronted publicly about what he did, he had no compassion or regrets and didn't see that he did anything wrong.
Yet, his group tied a dead animal to their vehicle to lure Cecil the lion out of the Hwange National Park in Africa. Then, Walter Palmer posed with the corpse of Cecil after hunting hime with his cross bow, then tracked him down and shot him with with gun 40 hours later.
Zimbabwe calls for the lion killer to face charges, and over a million U.S. citizens have signed a petition for this to happen.
