One of my favorite
things is camping, and especially building a bonfire with smores. I've been
researching spots to go camping for the late
spring summer.

Last year, a few friends with preschoolers of their own
went to Del Valle Park for camping, they said it was perfect as it is fairly
close to home (if you live in the San Francisco Bay area) and is a family
oriented location. The Del Valle camping area has 150 sites, 21 of them
with water and sewage and even electrical hookups (5/30/ 20 amp.) The
sites also have centrally located toilet and shower facilities. You can
make reservations up to 12 weeks in advance.
Starting Memorial Day
weekend, campers as well as park visitors can join the naturalist at the
amphitheater for campfire fun including songs, games, stories, and of course
marshmallow roasting.
Starting Memorial Day
weekend, there is also a boat tour available.
The camping is available
year round, but swimming is only open weekends and holidays from April to June
15th, from 11AM to 6PM. After June 15th, the days/hours will change.
The Del Valle Regional
Park is located on Del Valle Road off Mines Road, south of Livermore.
There are some amazing wineries in Livermore, on the way to Del Valle.
My friends stopped at Concannon last year and really enjoyed it!
