I recently heard about the Clair Tappaan Lodge in Norden. The place is not fancy, but it IS a place where there is lots of space to build snow sculptures, snow forts, and anything else with snow!
There is also a sledding slope right outside of door as well as a cross country skii path.
The lodge rents snowshoes and XC skis.
The lodge was built by a dedicated group of Sierra Club members in 1934.
The rates also include 3 meals.
