Billy and I are searching for the best bagels wherever are travels lead us. Here are some of our findings.
Albany, California
The best bagels we found on Solano Avenue are at Cafe Adeina. They also have other tasty, mostly organic dishes.
Rockridge, California
By far, the best bagels in the Rockridge area of Oakland, California are at Brooklyn Bagels on College Avenue. Billy enjoys the huge historical map of California that shows how there used to be an area of Oakland called Brooklyn. Interesting, considering some call Oakland the Brooklyn of the West.
Berkeley, California
Billy's favorite bagels in Berkeley, CA are at Saul's on Shattuck Avenue. They also have really yummy Matzah ball soup. They even sell the Matzah balls separately if you want to make the soup at home, which I sometimes do. The regular bagels come from Baron Baking in Oakland, CA. They have gluten free bagels also, and they come from Odd Bagel in Berkeley, CA. Saul's has live Klezmer music on Monday nights.
Oakland, California
My favorites so far are at Beauty Bagels on Telegraph Avenue. Billy doesn't like these bagels as much since they are a little less soft than some of the other bagels we've tried, but parents tend to love them!
