As we sat and had our last dinner at Manzanita, I talked with my son about his experience at the resort. When asked about his favorite thing, he said he loved the marshmology experience at 4:30PM everyday at the fire pit on the patio, was his favorite! Each night there were two ladies with marshmology lab jackets on, leading the adventure. It was so fun for him to hang out with all the other families and talk about the day, play, and have s'mores. It is a wonderful way to bring everyone together and meet other people staying at the resort. Most people still have their skii clothes on and are ready to talk about their day. I loved the pastry chef's signature marshmallow's each day, I liked caramel the best!
His second favorite thing, or a tie, he added later, was going skiing at Northstar! He took two private lessons with Angie in the mornings at 8:30AM, which is the least expensive time to take private lessons. That really helped him so that him and I could spend the days skiing! Angie even showed him how to use his own poles, since he was so interested in taking mine the first day. She observed him carefully and said he was ready. He was so proud of using those poles! She let me skii quietly in the background, which I recommend so that I knew what he was learning from her and could reinforce it after. I was pleasantly surprised how many great green runs there are at Northstar! It was really helpful for her to go over rules of going on the chairlift, such as having him get off the chairlift with "zombie arms." She also helped him with stopping and turning, using terminology such as crushing the marshmallows when bending forward, not back. The common instructor skii words such as pizza and french fries legs also helped!
His third favorite thing was the huge bathtub at the hotel! He said, "I love the bath tub, it is really big!" We got a different "bath bomb" as we called them each night. His favorite was the Frangipani & Mulberry leaves with blue agave effervescent bath soak, he loved throwing it in and seeing the whole bath turn bright blue!
When asked about food at the restaurant, he loved the plain yogurt with maple syrup from his pancakes.
He also loved the freshly baked pizza, that the friendly waiter Greg told him about. Greg even made him a handmade book out of the Ritz Carlton paper and a paper puncher!
