Why is homeschooling increasing? Part I

I've been asked by several parents at parks and playmates, "Why do you think homeschooling is increasing?"  One mom, who is also a teacher, told me, "I know how the sausage is made, which is why I won't eat the sausage!"  Interestingly, a high number of homeschoolers have one or more parents who are teachers.

In 2012, Education News stated, "Since 1999, the number of children who are being home schooled has increased by 75%." (Education News, Monday, May 21, 2012.)

One homeschool mom and blogger, wrote some interesting quotes on her blog, unplugyourfamily.blogspot.com:

"Thinking of life as fragile puts things into great perspective."

"We follow our hearts and our minds and learn about things that interest us."

"The ability to allow our children to be the authors of their own education is priceless."

"Parents should always have responsibility of primary educator."
